Bungunya State School follows the Australian Curriculum. We are committed to providing student centered learning opportunities to meet the needs of all students. Our emphasis has been, and will continue to be, on the success of every student.

Curriculum framework

Bungunya State School has crafted a curriculum framework that prepares students to be life long learners. Our junior school (P-2) focuses on literacy and numeracy with science, health and physical education, and one additional key learning area per term.

Our approach to middle schooling, in our senior class, provides a gateway to senior schooling. The focus is on facilitating challenging inquiry based projects in science and one additional key learning area, in parallel to an explicit math and English program. A gradual release of responsibility ensures our students are supported throughout the curriculum and challenged to achieve their full potential. Our students enter junior secondary schooling responsible, independent and prepared for learning.

Assessment

Assessment is an important component of the teaching and learning process. When establishing performance of students and intervention or extension requirements as per the child’s needs, our school implements:

  1. Formative assessment
  2. Diagnostic assessment
  3. Summative assessment

Reporting

Bungunya State School recognises that a clear understanding of children’s progress and confidence in the information provided are very important factors for parents. Reports are issued for students in Prep to Year 6 at the end of each semester (June and December). Reports follow a mandated federal template and are of most use when combined with parent-teacher interviews.

Student book scheme

Bungunya State School has a book scheme in place that ensures all students have the necessary resources for their education. It has been an established P&C practice to supply these book packs free of charge to every child!
